Tommy, can you hear me

I found an interesting webapp called PodOMatic that allows me to record MP3 messages and podcasts. My first podcast is available here. To listen, just click on the arrow button.
It’s really just a test to see how simple it is to create a podcast. So far so good. I will start using it to post voice messages from time to time. Sometimes it’s just better to hear someone’s voice than read an email or blog post.
Let me know what you think.
Mom’s Surprise Party
September 29, 2005 | Filed Under birthday, family, travel | 4 Comments
Ashley and I flew to Savannah last weekend to surprise Mom for her birthday. Grammy and Mr. Leitch planned an oyster roast at the Savannah Yacht Club, and they pulled it off perfectly. Uncle Jim and Aunt Dorothy went out of their way to get my brothers down to Savannah for the party. Uncle Jim rented a car for them, and Aunt Dorothy got them a hotel room. It was an incredible gesture. In fact, Mom said that it meant so much that all three of us were there.
I took this picture just as she walked in the room.

Living downtown so close to the World Trade Center site means that we have this constant reminder of September 11. And we face it every day. Of course, we choose to face it in different ways. For me, I needed to go to the site and remember.
Standing and looking down into the pit that morning was beautiful and sacred and heart breaking. I stood at the fence surrounding the void and listened to the siblings of those who died read out the names of those they lost. I stood there in silence for a long time… we all stood there in silence for a long time…
That night, they lit the beacons of light that shone in 2002 in remembrance. I took this picture from the top of our apartment. I think that it was the most fitting tribute to the people who were in those towers.
Hogan Knows Best

Yes, I have watched this show…
I mean, I watch this show religiously. And Ashley, with no previous knowledge of Hulk Hogan, also enjoys it. The reason that we both find it so amusing is because the Hulk’s mannerisms remind me of my dad.
Jana and Spencer, you guys really need to watch the show, and you will understand. Ashley and I both laugh whenever he says something that Dad would say.
Quote 1:
Linda: Come to pilates with us.
Hulk: I’ll smoke you two.
Brooke: Is that a challenge?
Hulk: It’s a fact.
Quote 2:
Hulk: Where are we gonna pee? (Spots a tree) There!
You can find some clips of the show at VH1.com: Hogan Knows Best
Congratulations Jana and Dad!

I said that I would post about Jana and Dad’s wedding, but I got a little distracted this week.
Anyway, the wedding last weekend was beautiful. It was a very intimate and sweet ceremony. The only people in the santuary were Jana, Dad, my three brothers – Jonathan, Matthew, and Spencer; Ashley, the pastor, a musician, and a photographer. During the ceremony, we all lit a unity candle signifying the bond of the family.
Afterwards, the rest of the family and several friends came to the reception to celebrate their wedding. It was wonderful to see everyone, and Dad and Jana were great hosts. They really seemed to enjoy the whole day (ok, they were a bit stressed out when we first saw them.) Melanie and crew did a fantastic job making everything go smoothly.
On a side note, this was the first trip back to Atlanta for Ashley and me. We took the opportunity to eat at Chick-fil-a, Ted’s Montana Grill, and Moe’s (what’s up NYC? When are you going to get these franchises?) We also managed to see everyone at least for a little while. It was a bit like a typical holiday where we drive from Atlanta to Marietta to Newnan and back. Here’s a shout out to everyone that we saw last weekend – Grandaddy, Grandmama, Denise, Jeannie, Jerry, Uncle Jerry, Memama, Wagner family… boy, it sure seemed like a lot more people than this list. It certainly took all weekend.
